EuroCup Semi-Finals: JL Bourg Suffers Crushing Defeat to Turk Telekom
JL Bourg experienced a tough start to their EuroCup semi-final series, suffering a comprehensive 71-99 defeat against Turk Telekom in Game 1. This significant loss comes despite the French team having beaten their Turkish opponents twice during the regular season.
As JL Bourg captain Kevin Kokila had previously warned, "the regular season and the playoffs are not the same basketball." Unfortunately for Bourg, this adage proved true as they struggled to find their rhythm in this crucial playoff encounter.
Frédéric Fauthoux's squad particularly struggled from beyond the arc, converting only 6 of their 24 three-point attempts. Despite the team's overall performance, Adam Mokoka contributed 16 points and Both Gach added 15 points to lead Bourg's scoring efforts.
On the opposing side, Kyle Allman, formerly of Paris Basketball and the hero of Turk Telekom's quarter-final victory against Jerusalem, once again delivered a decisive performance. He led his team with 19 points, complemented by 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
To keep their EuroCup final dreams alive, JL Bourg now faces a daunting challenge. They must secure a victory in Ankara on Friday for Game 2 to force a decisive third game back home and continue their pursuit of the championship title.
