Eurocup: JL Bourg to Face Zvezdan Mitrovic's Cedevita in Quarter-finals
Cedevita secured their victory against the Niners, largely due to an impenetrable defense in the third quarter, where they conceded a mere 7 points.
Cedevita coach Zvezdan Mitrovic reflected on the victory, describing it as "a hard-fought battle for every ball" in contrast to the "beautiful game" against Dubai Basketball in the ABA League (a 93-80 win) just two days prior. He emphasized the "playoff" nature of the game against the Niners: "Our hands were heavy, we couldn't make shots. But when you start playing defense... and a team only scores 7 points in the third quarter, you see the kind of energy we had."
DJ Stewart led Cedevita in scoring with 14 points, supported by Umoja Gibson, who added 12 points and 6 assists, and Andrej Nikolic, who contributed 11 points and 4 assists.
This marks Cedevita's third appearance in the Eurocup quarter-finals, a stage they have yet to surpass. In contrast, JL Bourg, with a strong historical record of four wins in six previous encounters against the Slovenian team, enters this match as the favorite. Freddy Fauthoux's team had an excellent regular season, finishing second in Group B with 13 wins and 5 losses, thus securing home-court advantage.
